2nd Coin Conference: Call for paper

[bsa_pro_ad_space id=4]

July 10, 2012 – The Coin Conference, which takes place March 12-13, 2013 at the Palace Hotel in Berlin, will bring together coin issuers (central banks and treasury departments) with those who supply coins, as well as materials, equipment and systems for handling, processing, verification, counting, distribution and reclamation, in a forum designed to facilitate the exchange of ideas, news, technologies and policies from around the world.

Proposals are now being invited for papers at the Coin Conference. If you wish to be considered for inclusion on the agenda, please send a 200-word abstract of the proposed presentation by September 30 to info@currency-news.com. The topics to be covered are summarised below, and proposals that relate to these topics will be of particular interest:

  • Forecasting demand
  • Determining the optimum note/coin boundary
  • Optimizing distribution
  • Minimizing costs of production and circulation
  • Maximizing seignorage
  • Building and maintaining public confidence
  • Counterfeiting and authentication
  • Performance in circulation
  • Alternative payment methods

Please note that the Coin Conference covers circulating coins only, and specifically circulating coins as part of countries’ currency management strategies, with a focus on design, security, cost-effective production, handling, distribution and management in circulation. Proposals that relate to manufacturing processes, materials and other aspects of coin production are welcome so long as they demonstrate a measurable benefit to issuers (and, ultimately, taxpayers).

If you are in doubt as to whether your proposal will be acceptable, please view the 1st Coin Conference programme (which took place in June 2011) – which serves as a guideline to the ethos and direction of this 2nd Coin Conference.
