The iconic Australian Frilled Neck Lizard is the first reptile to feature in this outstanding silver series. Found primarily in northern Australia, this remarkable reptile is named after the large frill around its neck, which can be used to frighten would-be predators and attract potential mates.

Featuring a fantastic full-colour Frilled Neck Lizard design on the reverse, comparisons will obviously be drawn between this new release and the memorable 2c piece that circulated from 1966 to 1991 and featured a Frilled Neck Lizard design by Australian numismatic master craftsman, Stuart Devlin. Capturing the essence of this Australian icon while also highlighting the extraordinary advances made by modern Proof minting with its richly detailed, full-colour, fully struck-up design, this coin is a masterwork of the numismatic arts.
Struck to superb Proof quality from 1oz of .999 fine silver by Australia’s own precious metal specialists, the Perth Mint, this crown-sized 40.60mm release is set to be of intense interest to collectors worldwide. An official Tuvalu legal tender issue, the obverse is distinguished by Ian Rank-Broadley’s portrait of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.
Issued with a mintage of 5,000 the 2013 $1 Frilled Neck Lizard 1oz Silver Proof coin was released on May 1st, 2013.
