September 26, 2013 – On October 6, 2013 the Silesian Collectors’ Market (Slaska Gielda Kolekcjonerów) will be held in southern Poland, in the centre of Katowice, the capital city of a region of enthusiasts of collecting.
The event will take place at Katowice’s Spodek arena, 35 Korfantego Avenue. It is a one-day event and therefore starts very early: the time from 5:45 to 7:45 a.m. has been reserved for “early birds” business, while sales for a wide group of buyers will be conducted from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., giving exhibitors plenty of intensive selling time.
For 15 years now, collectors and hobbyists from all over Poland and from other countries have been gathering every autumn in Katowice to present their collections and also to add new items to them. The aim of this meeting is to present, exchange, and buy/sell new minted products as well as collector coins and other numismatic items. The exhibitors’ collections will include the most popular exhibits such as coins, numismatic objects, banknotes, decorations, tokens, cards, and postage stamps as well as devotional objects, archival items, and bookplates.
Many people from the collectors’ community call this event a “collector’s feast” – this year, more than 200 companies will present their collections; approx. 2,000 avid collectors and hobbyists visit this market.
The Silesian Collectors’ Market is located in the south of Poland, in Katowice, not far and with convenient road, rail and air access from the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Austria, and Germany, which means a short trip to attend as well as saved business time and money.
The Spodek arena is situated in the centre of Katowice, next to Zietka Roundabout, a hub that connects national highway 79 with Korfantego Avenue.
The venue has excellent connections to the airport in Pyrzowice and the nearby railway station and bus terminal in Katowice. Airlines landing at Katowice Airport include Lufthansa, Wizz Air, Ryanair, and LOT Polish Airlines.
