The four-leaf clover is a well-known symbol not only in Christian culture, where it was associated with the four evangelists and Jesus’ cross. The Celts also regarded it as a protective charm against evil spirits and a symbol of the four elements as well as the four cardinal directions. Farmers soon noticed that their seed yielded much better harvests if the fields had previously been grown over with clover. So they came to attribute magical powers to the small green plant. It was only one step away from becoming a lucky charm.

Legend has it that Eve took a four-leaf clover with her so she could keep at least a tiny piece of paradise when she was expelled. Coin Invest Trust’s latest creation for the island state Palau contains a little piece of paradise, a four-leaf clover, which makes every coin a unique piece. Whether kept in their owners’ schoolbooks for better grades or under their pillows for sweeter dreams, this small numismatic talisman is a timeless and beautiful rendering of the well-known proverb: “Better an ounce of luck than a pound of gold.”

The coin is minted by B. H. Mayer’s Kunstprägeanstalt GmbH. Collectors can purchase the issue through specialty dealers.
