Perth Mint Coins Pay Tribute to Bruce Lee

August 27, 2015 – The Perth Mint celebrates the 75th anniversary of the birth of martial arts legend, Bruce Lee, with two limited edition precious metals commemoratives.

The reverse of the silver coin depicts a colored image of Bruce Lee in an iconic fighting pose, while the gold coin features a struck image of Bruce in one of his classic martial arts stances. The inscriptions BRUCE LEE 1940 2015, 75 YEARS, and The Perth Mint’s ‘P’ mintmark also appears on both coins. The Ian Rank-Broadley effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, the monetary denomination, and the 2015 year-date are shown on the obverse of each coin.
Struck from 1 oz of 99.9 % pure silver and ¼ oz of 99.99 % pure gold in proof quality, both coins are issued as legal tender under the authority of the Government of Tuvalu.

Born in San Francisco on 27 November 1940, Bruce Lee was a revered Chinese-American martial artist, teacher, action-film actor, philosopher and filmmaker known for movies like “Fist of Fury” and “Enter the Dragon”, as well as creating his own martial arts technique, Jeet Kune Do.

Bruce Lee’s legacy lives on well after his untimely death and he remains one of the greatest influencers of martial arts cinema and popular culture, said Perth Mint Acting General Manager, Marketing, Neil Vance.“With his philosophy, his words continue to serve as inspiration to generations and cultures throughout the world, so we are confident that these tribute coins will be hugely successful with fans and coin collectors alike”, he added.
