Michael Marsh’s works on the sovereign and half sovereign need little introduction to most collectors. For years they have been the standard reference works on Britain’s most revered gold coins and the Marsh numbers are used across the hobby by collectors, dealers and auction houses alike.
Since the last editions of The Gold Sovereign and The Gold Half Sovereign, there have been a number of additions to the series as well as a great deal of new information that has come to light. Token Publishing Ltd recently bought the rights to republish the Marsh books and, after extensive revisions by Steve Hill of Sovereign Rarities (formerly of Spink and Baldwins), the new volume, incorporating the sovereign, half sovereign and new quarter sovereign, has been published in 2017 to coincide with the 200th Anniversary of the modern sovereign.
