January 29, 2015 – The Archaeological Museum of Thessaloniki and the Alpha Bank Numismatic Collection organise the Scientific Meeting “Greek Colonisation: New Data, Current Approaches” in the context of the exhibition “The Europe of Greece: Colonies and Coins from the Alpha Bank Collection”. The Meeting will be held at the Archaeological Museum of Thessaloniki on Friday 6 February 2015 from 9:00 to 19:00.

The scientific interest in the Greek Colonisation together with the enthusiastic response of the public to the Exhibition led to the organisation of the Scientific Meeting, which aims to present new data and promote academic dialogue on the relevant issues.

Fifteen historians and archaeologists (excavators, museum directors, university professors) from Greece, Italy, Spain, Ukraine, and Australia, who are engaged with the study of the Greek Colonisation, will participate in the Meeting and present either new data from the area of their excavation works or a synthesis of various aspects of this phenomenon.
