July 14, 2011 – Shane Bissett has been appointed as the new Director of Commemorative Coin at the Royal Mint. He has ten years of experience leading consumer branded businesses in the UK, growing Waterford Crystal’s market share, then leading the turnaround of Stuart Crystal and its integration into a new combined UK Crystal Division.
In addition to this, he led the commercial turnaround of the furniture division of Silentnight Group and brings valuable international experience to the Royal Mint following his recent role running Glen Dimplex International.
Shane’s focus as Director of Commemorative coin will be developing the Royal Mint’s offering to become more relevant and engaging with consumers (both collectors & gifters) as well as enhancing the commercial proposition of the commemorative coin business unit. He will also oversee the development of The Royal Mint brand strategy and official state medals business.

We have some exciting new projects in the pipeline such as expanding our precious metal bullion and international businesses, along with the Diamond Jubilee and London 2012 Olympic ranges.
