May 11, 2017 – Numismatist Benjamin “Ben” Bell died on 10 April 2017 after a long, hard fought battle with cancer, his loving family at his side, as World Numismatics has announced.

Benjamin “Ben” Bell.

Benjamin Bell was a renowned numismatist who stated that coins fascinated him at the age of 4 already when he started to collect them. At 12, he brokered his first major deal which was a massive hoard of silver dollars, large-size paper money and world coins.

Benjamin Bell hold a Bachelor’s degree in Anthropology and Museum Studies and a Master’s in Ethnography from the University of London: University College, London. Later he has worked as a numismatist at Classical Numismatic Group and was the co-founder, co-owner and President of Civitas Galleries, Ltd.

In 2016 Ben joined the team of World Numismatics as a full partner in the company. He said that he felt one of the greatest aspects of coin collecting was the fellowship enjoyed with kindred spirits sharing interests, spreading appreciation and knowledge of bygone times through education, and providing a service to those outside of the field by helping them gain an understanding of the coins they have or helping them convert their collections into modern money.

Ben was loved and respected by everyone who knew him and he will be missed by the numismatic community whose thoughts are with his parents, Rob and Rebecca and his sister Rachel.
