[bsa_pro_ad_space id=4]

June 8, 2017 – A free online resource that enables data on a large collection of Byzantine copper coins to be available to scholars and collectors has recently been launched.
The site describes the private collection of about 2200 coins formed in England over the past 30 years. It consists of 42 chapters in PDF form describing the coins by reign or (in the case of non-Imperial issues) by mint, with high quality images of every coin. It also incorporates a number of related academic papers, both published and unpublished.
The website includes a “contact us” button for the exchange of information.

The collection is also published in a similar format in a hardbound volume of 450 pages entitled Early Byzantine Copper Coins (ISBN 978-1-5262-0036-5) copies of which are being sent to museums and universities with special interests in Byzantium and its coinage. The book is not available for purchase.

The owner of the collection wishes to remain anonymous. The editor is Mr S J Mansfield of the United Kingdom.
