January 2, 2014 – The NCCC (National Coin and Currency Convention), sponsored by the Professional Currency Dealers Association, has set the dates for its 29th Annual event. Patricia Foley, General Chairman for the Rosemont, Illinois, convention, announced that the 2014 edition will be held November 20-23 at the Crowne Plaza Chicago O’Hare, located at 5440 North River Road, roughly two miles from O’Hare Airport.
She said, “After 25 years in St. Louis, our event moved to suburban Chicago three years ago and saw an immediate uptick of roughly 50% in our booth sales. Our just concluded 28th Annual NCCC was sold out for the third year in a row at our new Crowne Plaza home and slightly more than 2/3 of our 2013 booth holders signed up and paid in full for next year prior to the conclusion of our show, which saw dealers from 19 states man the 70 booth bourse, which features United States, world and ancient coins, as well as U.S. and world paper money.”
Foley continued, “Our Crowne Plaza site was completely updated just three years ago and is one of the better hospitality properties in Rosemont. It is conveniently located just a short walk from Rosemont’s entertainment district and the always popular Gibson’s restaurant is just next door. All of the events that are part of the NCCC are held under one roof at the Crowne Plaza, making it an especially safe destination for our booth holders, as well as visiting dealers and collectors.”
The bourse area will first be open from 1pm-6pm on Thursday, November 20, for the always popular Early Bird and Professional Preview Day, where those without booths can gain access to the latest offerings of the booth holders a full day in advance of the general public for a $75 registration fee. The regular public hours will be 10am-6pm Friday and Saturday and 10am-2pm Sunday, November 23. A pass valid Friday and Saturday will be $5 at the door. Admission will be free on Sunday.
Kevin Foley, Bourse Chairman of the PCDA, sponsored the convention for its first 28 years, will once again fill that role. He said of the NCCC, “With 70 booths, our event is an ideal size for attendees to actually be able to spend time with almost all of our booth holders. Our 19 state bourse area will be manned by some of the leading numismatic dealers in the United States. Whether our guests at the convention are visiting dealers, experienced collectors or just beginning, we’ll have a well-rounded bourse that should have material to meet the needs of any of our attendees.”
