October 20, 20167 – The 31st Annual National Coin and Currency Convention will be held at the Crowne Plaza Chicago O’Hare, located roughly one mile from Chicago’s O’Hare Airport, at 5440 North River Road in the Northwest suburb of Rosemont. The mixed currency and coin event will be open to the public on Thursday, November 17 from 1PM-6PM and Friday and Saturday November 18 and 19 from 10AM-6PM.

Lyn Knight will hold a three session auction of world and United States paper money on Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings. Viewing for the Knight auction will begin at 10AM on Wednesday, November 16.

Educational highlight of the convention will be a presentation by Cliff Mishler, former President of Krause Publications, Dave Harper, editor of Numismatic News and Joel Edler, former Advertising Manager of Krause Publication, at the 1PM Saturday meeting of the Chicago Coin Club. Their topic will be, Remembering Chet Krause and His Contributions.  The trio will share their personal memories of the founder of the numismatic publishing firm that he bears his name and reflect on the contributions that he made during his lifetime to the numismatic world and his home town of Iola, Wisconsin.

Kevin Foley, long time Bourse Chairman for the event, said of the Saturday program, “Chet Krause was one of those people who affected and changed the lives of so many people. Yet, despite his undeniable life achievements and impact, he remained a humble and self-effacing man, someone who could be at ease with and interact in a relaxed manner with anyone at all, regardless of their station on the social or economic hierarchy. Cliff, Dave and Joel were among the circle of people who were closest to him, both on a personal and business level. I’m looking forward to hearing the perspectives about Chet that closeness gave each of them and having them share their memories of Chet with us all”.

Patricia Foley, General Chairman for the convention added, “Although for many years our event has been in a mid to late Autumn time frame, for 2017, largely in response to inputs from our booth holders and public attendees, we’ll be moving to the Spring and holding our 32nd annual convention at the same Crowne Plaza, where we’ll be the first full weekend of March. It was the feeling of our Board that a Spring format will enable us to better meet the needs and expectations of booth holders, as well as our professional and public attendees.”

Dealers interested in booth space at the November 17-19, NCCC should contact Foley via email.

Rooms at the Crowne Plaza will be $115 for NCCC attendees. To reserve at that discounted rate, call the Crowne Plaza at (877) 337-5793 and ask for the “National Currency and Coin Convention” rate.
