[bsa_pro_ad_space id=4]

May 5, 2011 – The Scientific committee for the 1st International Numismatic Workshop-INW/WIN (Rome-IT, 28-30 September 201) invites numismatists, archaeologists, university teachers, researchers, scholars, archaeological superintendencies, institutions of higher education and research groups to present posters dealing with the theme of “Numismatics and Archaeology: coins, stratigraphies and contexts” or dedicated to a particular case-study that is judged “exemplary” of the relationship that exists between coin finds, stratigraphic formational dynamics and all of the other elements providing context (e.g. pottery and other manufactured goods).

The goal of this Workshop is that of generating discussion between studies involving “contextual numismatics” and those studies – especially those relying upon stratigraphic excavation – in which the analysis of coins has not occurred “independently” of that of the other materials, but has rather been integrated with an analysis of the overall context.

Proposals will be chosen by the Scientific committee in accordance with their relevance to the goals of the Workshop, the originality of their scientific contribution, and (in the event that the proposals worthy of being accepted are more than the available slots) their order of arrival. The abstracts for those posters accepted will be published in the volume of the preliminary proceedings of the 1st International Numismatic Workshop.
