May 4, 2017 – The Minting of Danish coins has begun at Mint of Finland. Governor Hugo Frey Jensen of Danmarks Nationalbank, the central bank of Denmark, travelled to Vantaa to celebrate the start of manufacturing in person. Mint of Finland’s circulation coin minting machines will make Danish 20 krone coins. CEO of Mint of Finland Group Jonne Hankimaa is happy about the start of Danish coin production: “Beginning with the tendering process, the Danish project has been a great learning experience for us. We are honoured to be able to celebrate the start of production with such ceremony.”
Governor Hugo Frey Jensen of Danmarks Nationalbank is also pleased: “Mint of Finland has been chosen following a transparent tender process and we are confident that they will be able to live up to our expectations.”

Last year, Mint of Finland won the tendering competition organised by Danmarks Nationalbank. In addition to cost-effectiveness, the tendering process addressed the quality, security and social responsibility of the projects. Mint of Finland and Danmarks Nationalbank have signed a four-year framework agreement for the minting and delivery of Danish coins.
Mint of Finland Group generates revenue in three business areas: blanks, circulation coins and collector coins. The Group operates in three different countries and delivers blanks and circulation coins to central banks and mints on four continents.

The company also offers collector coins to retailers and, via its online shop, to consumers interested in gifts and collecting. The company is owned by the Republic of Finland.
