Italian collector coin on Roman emperor Augustus

May 29, 2014 – 2014 marks the 2000th anniversary of the death of the most famous Roman Emperor: Gaius Julius Caesar Octavianus, honoured with the title of Augustus in 27 B.C., founded and ruled the Roman Empire for the longest period in Roman history as its first Emperor.

The Italian Mint has honoured the great emperor with a 10 euro silver proof coin, featuring on the obverse the veiled bust of Augustus from a marble statue kept in the National Roman Museum, …
