Leigh Gordon will become the new Ceo of the Royal Australian Mint. “Mr Gordon brings significant public sector experience to the Mint drawing on his extensive career in Defence,” Treasury Secretary Dr Steven Kennedy PSM said.

Until recently, Mr Gordon was a member of the Defence Senior Leadership Group and worked in the Capability Acquisition and Sustainment Group at the Department of Defence.

As a senior member of the Royal Australian Air Force, Mr Gordon managed complex projects including serving as the head of the Joint Strike Force Division and the Aerospace Systems Division.

The Secretary also paid tribute to outgoing CEO Ross MacDiarmid for his leadership and service.

“On behalf of Treasury, I would like to acknowledge Mr MacDiarmid for his dedication to public service in Australia through his leadership of the Mint during the past decade,” Dr Kennedy said.

Mr Gordon will commence his position at the Mint in February 2021.

His stepping down means that the Mint Directors Conference has the position of Secretary-General vacant. Mr. MacDiarmid was elected the first MDC Executive Officer to cover this vacancy.
