July 31, 2014 – The 43rd Annual New York International Numismatic Convention will take place at the Waldorf-Astoria Hotel over a ten day period beginning Friday, January 2 and concluding on Sunday, January 11.

The event will feature a 130 dealer bourse made up exclusively of dealers in foreign and ancient numismatic material. The bourse will open on Thursday, January 8 from 12noon-7PM for the Professional Preview, where collectors and dealers without booths can gain access to the bourse area a full day in advance of the general public for a $125 registration fee. The regular public access hours will be Friday and Saturday January 9 and 10 from 10AM-7PM and Sunday, January 11 from 10AM-3PM. There is a $20 registration fee for a three day pass valid Friday through Sunday.

Auction lot viewing will open on Friday, January 2 and conclude on Sunday, January 11. Heritage Auctions of Dallas, Texas will hold sessions on Sunday and Monday, January 4 and 5. They will be followed by Classical Numismatic Group, with sessions on Tuesday and Wednesday, January 6 and 7. A cooperative venture consisting of Ira and Larry Goldberg, M&M Numismatics, Dmitry Markov and Baldwin’s, will hold sessions Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, January 6, 7 and 8. California’s Stack’s-Bowers-Ponterio will hold sessions on the evenings of Friday and Saturday, January 9 and 10, while Kolbe and Fanning will hold a numismatic literature auction on Saturday, January 10. The final session in the eight days of NYINC auctions will feature a sale cataloged and conducted by Chicago’s Gemini Auctions on Sunday, January 11.

Kevin Foley, long time Bourse Chairman for the NYINC said of the convention, “The NYINC is truly a special event. People with an interest in numismatics come from all over the world to be part of the NYINC. During the registration period English is a minority language at our reception desks. One of the reasons the NYINC has such staying power is simply that both collectors and dealers realize that they’ll have an opportunity to make contacts that just aren’t available to them at any other numismatic affair in the United States. We’ll have nine different auction companies presenting 16 different sessions of numismatic rarities during the ten days of our convention. The NYINC is simply unlike any other numismatic event in the United States. It can be both exhausting and exhilarating to be at the Waldorf and be a part of it. I consider myself to be a steward of the tradition begun by the founder of the NYINC, Richard Margolis, now approaching a half century ago. In fact, Mr. Margolis is still part of the NYINC and will be one of our bourse dealers in 2015, just as he has each and every year since he started the convention.”

Dealers interested in being added to the waiting list for the sold out NYINC bourse should contact Foley via e-mail.

Rooms are available at the Waldorf at a range of rates beginning at $289. Attendees should call the hotel directly at (212) 355-3000 and mention rate code “NYA” or “NYZ” to make a reservation. All rooms under the NYINC room block include complimentary internet access, normally an $18.95 per day charge.

Additional information about the NYINC, including the detailed Schedule of Events, contact information for the official auction companies and a listing of booth holders, is available online.
