Royal Mint launches 2017 Christmas coins

November 16, 2017 – The Royal Mint has launched three special coins for Christmas 2017, in celebration of Yuletide traditions. 

Great Britain / 5 Pounds / Cupro-nickel / 28.28g / 38.61mm / Design: Jody Clark (obverse) and Edwina Ellis (reverse) / Mintage: Unlimited.

‘The Christmas Tree 2017 UK £5 Brilliant Uncirculated Coin’, designed by print maker Edwina Ellis, captures the excitement of the festive season.

Great Britain / 6 Pence / Silver .925 / 3.35g / 19.41mm / Design: Jody Clark (obverse) and John Bergdahl (reverse) / Mintage: Unlimited.

The Royal Mint is supporting an age old British Christmas tradition by encouraging families to stir ‘The Christmas Silver Six Pence 2017 UK BU Coin’ into their Christmas pudding for good fortune. The coin is struck in silver, with an obverse design by artist and sculptor, John Bergdahl.

The Royal Mint had created a book and 50p coin set featuring a book with an original cover designed exclusively for its ‘The Tale of Peter Rabbit 2017 UK 50P Gold Edition Gift Set’.

The coin features a well-known image of Peter Rabbit, and is finished to Proof standard. Royal Mint has created a book and 50p coin presentation set featuring a book with an original cover designed exclusively for this set.
