August 2, 2018 – Cash & Payment News, published by Currency Publications Ltd (CPL), was launched on July 25, 2018. It is the only news source dedicated specifically to the cash cycle and the role of cash within the payment eco-system, and joins CPL’s portfolio that also includes Currency News, Mint News Quarterly, the Directory of Currency Suppliers, the Directory of Circulating Coins and periodic industry reports. CPL is also the organizer of the biennial Coin Conference.

A sister publication to Currency News, Cash & Payment News will be published monthly, providing information and analysis on physical cash (banknotes and coins) and how this is managed and optimized once in circulation, as well as the role of cash in an increasingly diverse payments landscape.

Cash & Payment News is targeted at retail banks, retailers and organizations that handle cash, independent ATM deployers and financial self-service companies, central bank cash departments, consumer payment providers, and the industries that supply these. It will be available in both digital and print format allowing the reader to receive up to date news each month.

The principle topics covered each month will include payments regulation, policy and legislation; consumer payment trends, studies and research; cashless or less-cash initiatives and counter initiatives; cash and payment fraud and security; cash operation efficiencies; cash automation at the retailer and bank branch; public perception, financial exclusion and the social benefits of cash.

According to Managing Editor Astrid Mitchell, who has also edited the sister publication Currency News since 2003, ‘despite what one hears and reads, there is no such thing as the coming cashless society. Cash continues to grow in virtually every country in the world, and will continue to have a vital role in consumer payment choice. To do so, however, it needs to become more efficient in terms of cost and availability, with the latter – and its interface tithe public – being critical. Cash & Payment News will cover in depth the issues around cash and alternative payments, providing a more balanced and objective view than is currently available as to their benefits and future.’

The inaugural issue is available free of charge on the Cash & Payment website. Currency News subscribers are entitled to the first three months of Cash & Payment News free of charge. New subscribers will also receive a complimentary copy of the recently released 2018 edition of the Directory of Currency Suppliers.
