May 17, 2018 – Innovation plays a major role at the World Banknote Summit. In 2017, the concept of inviting experts from outside the banknote community to share their views on banknotes was premiered. The World Banknote Summit 2018 will mark the introduction of yet another innovation: Immersion sessions.

Immersion sessions

The Immersion sessions are tailored for smaller groups to provide the perfect platform to drill down on specific subjects, and to foster the exchange of views among participants. In a time window of 75 minutes, the audience has the opportunity to learn first-hand from the experience of the expert panelists, and engage in lively discussions with them and fellow industry peers. To best suit the session topic, immersion sessions will either be moderated by a chair or take the form of a workshop.

To ensure maximum flexibility of choice, several immersion sessions will be run on multiple tracks, allowing delegates to choose their preferred topic of interest. Beat Attinger, Managing Director of the World Banknote Summit, explains: “With the introduction of immersion sessions, we strive to add further value to the conference agenda. Discussions on specific topics in small circles will help participants get the inside view they were looking for.”

Stimulating agenda topics presented by expert speakers

The agenda topics are selected with great care and, once again this year, a series of stimulating presentations are lined up. Speakers from Deutsche Bundesbank, the European Central Bank, the Hong Kong Monetary Authority and Hong Kong Note Printing Ltd, the South African Reserve Bank, De Nederlandsche Bank, and other central banks will talk about new banknote series, note production challenges, and currency management issues. Furthermore, experts in their respective field will address quality issues, talk about the possibilities and limitations of new technologies, and share their views on banknotes from different perspectives.

The World Banknote Summit

The World Banknote Summit 2018 will be held in Frankfurt, Germany, from 24 to 26 September. The principal objective of the World Banknote Summit is to deliver relevant, high-quality content to its audience. To achieve this goal, the Summit focuses on two core issues: Firstly, it looks at banknotes as a printed product, whereby key issues in the life cycle of banknotes are addressed and, secondly, it contemplates the role of banknotes in the payment landscape today and in the future.
